If you’ve ever looked at a giant slab of granite and thought, “I wonder what’s up there?”—Stone Mountain Park has the answer. This place isn’t just a rock... it’s an entire day of surprises, especially if you're rolling through Georgia in your RV, passing nearby Atlanta, or looking for a fun day trip.

We didn’t expect to find so many things packed into one park, but wow—Stone Mountain serves up scenic views, southern charm, and high-tech shows all in one epic stop.

🚐 The Stops

Stone Mountain Park is RV-friendly with camping options onsite, though we just spent the day exploring. Parking is ample, and the grounds are easy to navigate—even with a dually or big rig.

🧭 The Stories

🚂 Ride the Scenic Railroad

Start with the Stone Mountain Scenic Railroad—a relaxing 5-mile loop around the mountain. It’s an open-air train (which is always a win), and it’s the perfect way to get your bearings. Whether you’re a kid or just a kid at heart, it’s a solid way to kick things off.

🚠 Summit Skyride

Not up for a hike? No problem. The Summit Skyride whisks you straight to the top of the mountain in a cable car. Once you're up there, the views are absolutely breathtaking—you can even spot the Atlanta skyline on a clear day. This was a favorite for sure.

🏨 The Lodge (Stone Mountain Inn)

We wandered over to Stone Mountain Inn to soak in a little southern hospitality. It’s a charming old-school lodge with rocking chairs and sweet tea vibes. Even if you’re not staying there, it’s worth stopping by to rest your feet and enjoy the quiet.

💥 Drone & Light Show

End your visit with the epic Drone & Laser Show. This is not your average fireworks display—think Disney meets high-tech. Hundreds of drones fly in sync to music while lasers dance across the mountain’s surface. Bring a blanket, camp chair, and popcorn. It’s the kind of experience that makes you say, “How did I not know about this!?”

🧠 The Stuff We Wish We Knew

  • The Drone Show gets crowded fast, so grab a spot early.

  • There’s way more to do than we could fit in one day—mini golf, paddle boats, hiking trails, and even a confederate memorial carving for history buffs.

  • There are annual passes if you're local or plan to visit more than once—might be worth it.

  • If you're in an RV, book early for the on-site campground—spots fill fast on weekends.
