If youâve ever looked at a giant slab of granite and thought, âI wonder whatâs up there?ââStone Mountain Park has the answer. This place isnât just a rock... itâs an entire day of surprises, especially if you're rolling through Georgia in your RV, passing nearby Atlanta, or looking for a fun day trip.
We didnât expect to find so many things packed into one park, but wowâStone Mountain serves up scenic views, southern charm, and high-tech shows all in one epic stop.
đ The Stops
Stone Mountain Park is RV-friendly with camping options onsite, though we just spent the day exploring. Parking is ample, and the grounds are easy to navigateâeven with a dually or big rig.
đ§ The Stories
đ Ride the Scenic Railroad
Start with the Stone Mountain Scenic Railroadâa relaxing 5-mile loop around the mountain. Itâs an open-air train (which is always a win), and itâs the perfect way to get your bearings. Whether youâre a kid or just a kid at heart, itâs a solid way to kick things off.
đ Summit Skyride
Not up for a hike? No problem. The Summit Skyride whisks you straight to the top of the mountain in a cable car. Once you're up there, the views are absolutely breathtakingâyou can even spot the Atlanta skyline on a clear day. This was a favorite for sure.
đ¨ The Lodge (Stone Mountain Inn)
We wandered over to Stone Mountain Inn to soak in a little southern hospitality. Itâs a charming old-school lodge with rocking chairs and sweet tea vibes. Even if youâre not staying there, itâs worth stopping by to rest your feet and enjoy the quiet.
đĽ Drone & Light Show
End your visit with the epic Drone & Laser Show. This is not your average fireworks displayâthink Disney meets high-tech. Hundreds of drones fly in sync to music while lasers dance across the mountainâs surface. Bring a blanket, camp chair, and popcorn. Itâs the kind of experience that makes you say, âHow did I not know about this!?â
đ§ The Stuff We Wish We Knew
The Drone Show gets crowded fast, so grab a spot early.
Thereâs way more to do than we could fit in one dayâmini golf, paddle boats, hiking trails, and even a confederate memorial carving for history buffs.
There are annual passes if you're local or plan to visit more than onceâmight be worth it.
If you're in an RV, book early for the on-site campgroundâspots fill fast on weekends.
